Oct. 2011, Ramona McGowan decided she wanted to peruse her career in acting and modeling. At age 19, she was living in a small town in western N.C. She had graduated high school early, completed 2 years of college, completed her C.N.A and had her own cleaning service. Ramona had to put her schooling on hold and move back home when issues arose with her family. She spent 6 months out of school and working at a local restaurant to help her family get back on their feet, when finally she decided she had to live the life she desired and deserved. That night she packed her bags and left for Atlanta the next day. Ramona was not certain what she was going to do or where she would go when she got there seeing how she knew nobody in town. While searching for some odd jobs, she came across an ad for a music video. She had no idea what it would entail. Three days later, Ramona was on her first set at Akon's house. This was the spark of her career. She fell in love with the entertainment industry and had a yearning to learn more. The next couple months, Ramona spent many nights sleeping in her car and some in a hotel when she could afford it. Ramona had chosen her new career. Soon after learning more about the industry, Ramona was booking jobs left and right. She had the opportunity to work at Tyler Perry's studios on 'House of Payne' and BET 'The Game'. She also had the chance to work with Jonah Hill, Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Amy Smart, and many in the entertainment industry. Ramona landed her first role as supporting lead in the feature film 'The Eugenist'. From then on, she was working on commercials, film, television and doing some print work. One morning Ramona woke up and decided "I need to swim with the sharks". Three hours later, she was on her way to Los Angeles, California. Again, she was not sure of anything except that she had a dream that was stronger than her reasonable logic. She had $700 and a conversion van. That was all she needed. She would stop along the way to get work lined up for when she arrived to the city of dreams. She started acting classes the week she got to Los Angeles, had three auditions lined up and a head full of hope. She booked two of the auditions and has now lived in Hollywood for 10 months. She has been living the dream and has the drive that cannot be taken away. Ramona will never sell herself self short or compromise her morals.
